You may run the risk of spending time and money repairing an organ that will be worth next to nothing when you're finished with it.

I suspect some of these freebies will be in better condition than your $4 purchase.
REPAIR A LOWREY ORGAN FOR FREE
Why don't you simply mic the organ if you want to record it?Īs an aside, there are a fair number of these kinds of Lowrey's and even some small Hammonds that can be had for free to those who are willing to simply move them. I don't suspect the problem lies with the volume pedal, or amp, and it may be the jack or a preamp out feeding the 1/4" jack. Since the organ works "fine" through it's speaker, then you will need to determine the signal path for the 1/4" jack. On one had, the organ can be fixed (almost anything can), given enough expertise, time and/or money. Let me know if this is a fixable problem or if i should just bend this organ, sample it and ditch it. I feel like the problem is either in the volume pedal or in the amp/preamp but that's just an educated guess. I've already done some work on this organ (replacing switches fixing contacts, etc.) and I don't have an issue with doing wiring and soldering. So, baring all this in mind, my question is can I fix this. This doesn't happen when the volume pedal is at minimum but that really limits what i can do with the organ.

The bass pedals become extremely loud and distorted to the point where you can't tell one note from another. The result is a very intense distortion that isn't all that usable. The problem occurs when you start pushing multiple switches on either of the manuals and mix that with the volume pedal.

That actually doesn't bother me, I can get around it. So the deal is the organ works fine through it's built in speaker but I just discovered an 1/4 inch output and tried plugging it in to my recording setup. Its a little beat up and a couple of the switches are missing or broken but it was $4 so I thought why not. I recently bought a Lowrey home organ similar to the one in this picture
